Wondering where to start? There is a lot of information to process and I'm here to help! Check out some Frequently Asked Questions below, but don't hesitate to head over to the Contact Me page if you have any questions at all!
What is your availability?
I am currently booking for Spring 2019. I will only be booking sessions on Friday and Saturday evenings. If you have extenuating circumstances, drop me a line! I will try my best to work with you on availability.
How do I secure my session?
Your session is not considered booked until I have received your non-refundable retainer of $50. The remaining session fee is due at the time of your session.
Do you have a studio?
My passion is natural light photography and all of my sessions are held outdoor. Rescheduling based on weather conditions is done so at the photographers discretion.
When and where do you shoot?
Sessions can be held just about anywhere! I have a few favorite locations around the Clayton and Raleigh areas, but if you have a spot you are interested in, I'm usually up for it! Sessions outside a 20 mile radius of Clayton may be subject a travel fee. I prefer to shoot during Golden Hour, this is the hour right before sunset and gives lots of dreamy sun flares and soft lighting.
Indoor Lifestyle, Boudoir and Milk Bath sessions are held in the clients home.
What should I wear?
I am happy to help you decide on what to wear! You can always send pictures of your options, and I will do my best to give you my honest, professional opinion.
That being said, I love to photography white and other light colors during Spring and Summer and bold gem tones in the Fall. You will also do well to avoid too many patterns. As a rule, one person in a family can wear a pattern and the rest should wear complimenting colors. Try to avoid any clothing with words, especially on small babies who are unable to stand.
What is the editing process like?
I believe in natural, light editing that will give you timeless photos that will last the fleeting Pinterest trends. I love bright, beautiful colors and soft light. All of your images are personally hand edited. What does that mean? It means that I do not just add a filter and click next!
My most common request is "make me look good!", and I TOTALLY get it. After all, you are spending your hard earned money to get images you will be proud to show off to your family and friends! I will do my absolute best to shoot you from flattering angles, but I do not include any 'excessive editing' in my photography. I will do some light editing, such as teeth whitening, contouring and skin softening, but I can not make you look different than you are. But please, if you have an area you would love to be hidden from the camera, just let me know! I can't make guarantees, but I can certainly keep it in mind during your session. If I don't know, I can't help!
How long does it take to get my images?
You can expect the editing process to take up to two-three weeks, depending on the season. No galleries will be released until the session fee is paid in full.
What can I expect before my session?
Before your session, we will chat by email or phone and discuss what your visions are for the session. Do you like bright and airy images? Dark and moody? I will help you with some ideas on what to wear and some great locations in the area, as well as talk you through any questions you may have.
What can I expect during my session?
My personal photography style is to keep your family as natural and candid as possible. That means that during our time together, I will be talking with you, playing with your kids and following you closely. I am the one at work, not you! I want you to relax, snuggle into your spouse and enjoy each moment of your family interacting.
As a mom, I know that when you are on a time limit and want to get the best pictures possible, stress levels rise quickly. Don't worry about that though! That is my job to worry! I will make sure to capture lots of beautiful candids and a few smiling posed pictures as well.
During your session, I will offer prompts to you and your family to try and help keep the session progressing naturally, but mostly you should move freely and laugh a lot. If you do that, you will LOVE your photos!
What can I expect after my session?
Within 48-72 hours, I will post a preview on my KFP Facebook page. This image will be watermarked and can be shared from my page with your family and friends. Please do not edit or crop this or any image you are given as it is a violation of our contract. If you want any changes made, just give me a shout! I'm happy to help.
Within 2-3 weeks, you will be emailed your gallery. All of the images provided will be available for download and also come with a print release, so you can print at your favorite photo lab.
I will also post a blog on your session with all of my favorite images! This can be shared from my Facebook page or website and is a great way to showcase your session to family and friends.
